Jack Wilson

Jack R. Wilson, "Jackie,"  age 91, died Wednesday Aug. 14, 2024, in rural Jewell, Kansas. He was born to Jack and Hazel Wilson on Aug. 7, 1933.

Growing up on the farm, Jack developed a love and respect for the land, farm animals and hard-working farm life, including farming his land, harvesting various crops, baling, custom harvesting, caring for various farm animals, including cattle, in which he was caring for up to his passing,

Within his younger years, he also worked in Kansas City, and also served as the Jewell County Deputy Sheriff. Jack was married to Fawna Arasmith and this union was blessed with three children: Greg, Bruce and Ferris. They eventually divorced. Later he married Joann Vanleewan, and this union was blessed with three children: Melinda, Mark and Monte.

With the children growing up, grandchildren were entering the family, including Megan Cheek (Jeff), Jewell, Bobby Stickler, San Diego, California, Debbie Bogerty, Virginia, Jerod McMillan (Samantha), Jewell, Lee McMillian (Ingrid), Beloit, Ashley Gerlach (Matt), Clearwater, Kansas, Kelsie Matta (Adrian) Wichita, Haley Patty (Jason), Benton, Kansas, Cooper Wilson (Jessica), Lawrence, Kansas, Dalton Wilson (Kenzie), Manhattan, Kansas, Josie Krier (Ashton), Beloit, Wade Wilson, Jewell, Lane, Wilson, Jewell, Ashton Cates (Ryan), Jewell, and Ali Ernst (Brett), Jewell.

The family was then blessed with loving great-grandchildren.

In addition to the above, Jack is also survived by daughters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Jack will be remembered by his good humor, and friendly joking, and bringing a smile to many faces.

Visitation will be today (Thursday Aug. 22, 2024) from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday Aug. 23, 2024, at the Jewell Community Center with Kerma Crouse officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Jewell Community Center or Wallace Cemetery.

The casket will remain closed.
