There are new faces at Superior's Victorian Inn. The motel was recently sold by Dr. Timothy Blecha to Vijay Goupal.
The motel was originally named the Plains Motel. It was constructed in 1963 by a group of Superior businessmen. The original building was added onto. The property was purchased by Dr. Timothy Blecha in 1996. He oversaw the construction of a 12-room addition which featured Victorian-themed rooms. The motel now has 40 rooms.
Goupal is a native of Guyana, a small South American country, which shares a border with Venezuela. He moved to New York City with his family when he was in his mid-teens. He attended high school and college in New York City.
He moved to Northern Virginia to assist his parents with operating their convenience store.
He made the move to Orlando, Florida, where he worked with Home Depot for 20 years.
When the opportunity arose to purchase the Victorian Inn, Goupal made the leap.
He has relocated to Superior. He will be assisted by his son, Brian.
The pair plan no major changes for the propertuy but intend to upgrade certain amenities such as carpet.
This reporter advised the duo that unlike Florida, Superior does have winter. They were given jacket and boot recommendations.
