Superior schools begin building alumni database

Superior Public Schools launched a drive this week to build a database of all Superior High School alumni.

Such a list was last built in the 1990s when the Superior START Committee had obtained a grant that provided for a quarterly newsletter mailing.

The list was maintained for a time after the grant expired but without the regular mailing which provided address updates from the post office the list eventually became dated.

In the 1930s, Lady Vestey provided the Superior High School journalism class with funds to compile a list of Superior High School graduates.

Now with the advent of computers and the internet, it is hoped it will be easier to obtain and maintain such a list.

Regardless of the year of graduation, the builders of the list want current contact information so they keep the graduates in the loop for future community events and special plans. By sharing an email and telephone number, the graduates will be able to stay informed about community activities, projects and the things happening at the school. The information will not be sold.

There is an online form with may be filled out and either emailed or mailed to the school. The school address is Superior Public Schools-Alumni, P.O. Box 288, Superior, Nebraska 68978. The information may be telephoned to 402-879-3257 extension 162.

The email address for the form may be obtained by going to this newspaper’s Facebook pages which is listed as The Superior Express. We attempted to print the address here but it is so complicated this writer was never able to enter it correctly and doubted most readers could do so.

For those not wanting to use the internet, the questionaire asks for email addresses, first and last names, maiden name, name of spouse, graduation year, phone number, mailing address and if the respondent would be interested in attending an annual alumni event during the Victorian Festival weekend.
