2024 county budget ready for publication

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday.

The board approved routine claims and the 2024-2025 county budget for publication.

The board approved a utility permit for Glenwood Telecommunications.

Nick Elledge, county weed superintendent, advised the board that he would contact land owners about spaying for invasive phragmites. Landowners could contyract the work on their own. He advised he would look into alternatives such as drone or helicopter spraying.

The board approved a catastrophic inmate insurance policy.

The board took no action on the replacement of the current out-of-compliance handicap ramp.

Work had begun on the basement remediation project.

The board approved the purchase of a computer for the treasurer’s office.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 3, because of the Labor Day holiday.
