The sand greens at the Lawrence Country Club and the artificial turf greens at the Elk Creek Country Club in Nelson (surf and turf) served as this weekend’s battle ground for area golf enthusiasts. Twenty-one teams of three started the tournament in Nelson on Saturday morning, ending the night with a prime rib dinner. Play resumed Sunday morning with a shotgun start at the Lawrence course. The golfers played 18 holes at each site.
Winners of the championship flight were the team of Mike Ostdiek, Dave Muff and Cooper Damgard. The team shot two rounds of 29 on Saturday in Nelson and shot rounds of 30 and 27 in Lawrence for a two-day total of 115. The team of Toby Kotinek, Tyson Kotinek and Jacob Kathman came in a close second with rounds of 28, 30, 30, and 29 for a total of 117.
Third place went to Dillon Wolfe, Marcus Miller and Garrett Hofstetter with rounds of 33, 28, 30 and 28 with a total of 119.
Those placing in the first flight were: First place - Tim Streff, Tim Kohmetscher and Jared Neiderklein shooting rounds of 34, 33, 30, and 27 for a total of 124. Second place - Brett Peterson, Peter Sprirk and Derrick Drohman shooting 35, 31, 30 and 30 for a total of 126. Third place - Gavin Caldwell, Alex Caldwell and Alan Majer shooting 33, 34, 30 and 29 for a total of 126.
Second flight winners were: First Place - Ken Rempe, Travis Rempe and Conner Rempe with rounds of 36, 34, 30 and 32 totaling 132. Second place - Wayne Hoelting, Roy Faimon and Burt Schroer with rounds of 36, 37, 30 and 30 for a total of 133. Third place - Andy Sole, Ridge Schutte and Curt Bolte with rounds of 36, 34, 34 and 31 totaling 135.
