Ferebees receive Heritage Farm award

Nuckolls County typically presents the Aksarben Farm Family award, however, this year a Heritage Farm Award was presented.  This award recognizes farm families who have consecutively held ownership of land in the same family for 150 years. This year’s farm is located 3 miles north of Nelson on Highway 14. It was purchased by John Dunken from Augustus Kountz and K. Kountz in 1873. This purchase was made just close to the time of the county beginning to keep records of sales. John Dunken was an ancestor of Mrs. Arbor Ferebee. (Allen and Karen’s great-grandmother) Receiving the Aksarben Heritage Farm award this year was Allen Ferebee and Karen Daniels.
