Sequoia Wulf - State 4-H horse Expo winner

Sequoia Wulf, 13 of Superior and her  Paint gelding, Scenic By The Bay, were the reserve champions in the junior hunter under saddle competition at the Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo in Grand Island held July 13 through July 17. Sequoia is the daughter of Dusty Wulf and Amanda Wulf. She is a member of the Rough Riders 4-H Club.

There were 239 exhibitors, 351 horses, 1,306 entries representing more than 45 Nebraska counties at the Expo.

     The Expo is the pinnacle showing experience for members of the 4-H Horse Program in Nebraska. The show includes a multitude of classes for youth ages 8 through 18 along with their horses, ponies and miniature horses. Classes for youth in horsemanship level 1 include halter and showmanship along with judging and hippology competitions.  Most classes require the youth to have passed horsemanship level 2 while some classes require horsemanship level 2, 3 and 4. Each level requires the youth to have passed knowledge and safety tests, along with presenting demonstrations and written tests. Classes included are:  halter and showmanship at halter, western pleasure and horsemanship, Trail, ranch pleasure and ranch riding, English and western eressage, English classes included are hunter under saddle and hunt seat equitation and hunter hack. Other classes are western riding, reining, working ranch horse, pole bending and barrel racing.
