The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will be in Red Cloud to present an original musical adaptation of “Peter and Wendy”—the classic Victorian tale by J.M. Barrie and featuring talented local youth. Performances will be at the Red Cloud Opera House during the weekend of Red Cloud’s “Streetcar Days” on Aug. 2 and 3.
An open audition will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.on Monday, July 29 Those auditioning should arrive by 10 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition, so please pack a lunch. Students entering 1 through 12 grades are encouraged to attend.
Among the roles to be cast are Peter, his Shadow, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys; Wendy and her brothers, John and Michael; their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darling with their faithful friends, Nana and Liza; Captain Hook and his Pirate Crew along with the Crocodile; Tiger Lily, the band of Neverlanders and Neverland Creatures; and, carrying them to Neverland, a group of stormy Clouds. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery and props. MCT Tour directors will conduct rehearsals with the actors daily throughout the week and a schedule will be announced on the day of auditions.
“Peter and Wendy” will be presented on Friday, Aug. 2, at 5:30 p.m, and again at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Children grade 12 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency and performances in Red Cloud are supported with grants from the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
