Love my crazy life

First things first. I have taken another job. I hate to leave the paper, but this job has two things I need - insurance and retirement. I’m getting to the age where those two things seem important. The federal government says I can retire around 76 or so. I don’t know that I will make it that long. LOL! Who knows. I might still be a pool manager at 80, only time will tell.

I’m not going to say I have enjoyed every minute of my time as a “journalist,” but I will miss everyone I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know in the last five years. The two things I will miss the most are the people at The Express and being on the sidelines at the Raider football games. The Express has become a haven for me, and the people have become like family. Although I don’t spend much time there, I look forward to Bill’s stories, Clinton’s “good mornings,” Mary’s rants, Rita’s smile, Marty’s smart comments and my chats on Wednesdays at the post office and with Brenda at C&M.

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost five years since Jacob had his first concussion, and I stopped at The Express to get an application and left with a job. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, or how to do it, and still really don’t! I have done my best and have hoped that was enough. I will miss writing to you all each week, and who knows, maybe one day I will write a book. God knows I have a lot to write about. My life is a bit like a Lemony Snicket novel “A Serious of Unfortunate Events.”

Next week, hopefully, I can tell you all about the new job, but as of now, I don’t have a lot of information to share. If you don’t mind, say a little prayer for me, since I’m off into unknown waters once again. X’s & O’s.
