Daniel Earl Hesket, 62, of Haven, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in Cheney, Kansas. He was born on June 21, 1962, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Merle Gary and Judy (Martin) Hesket.
He graduated from Fort Hays State University with bachelor's degrees in industrial arts and biology and later received his master's degree in wildlife management.
Dan was united in marriage to Vallie Dunnegan on Sept. 13, 1993.
Dan worked for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks as a game warden, boating law administrator, and eventually retired as the assistant director of law enforcement. Dan later worked as a rural mail carrier for the Cheney, Kansas post office.
Dan was an award winning board member of the National Association of Boating Law Administrators.
Dan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vallie Hesket, of the home; mother, Judy (John) Bingham, of Mankato; children, Amy (Jeff) Bryant of Colwich, and Matt (Sarah) Kuhn of Parkville, Missouri; grandchildren, Lily, Lainey, Kingston, Aston, Rylan and Kyler; and three sisters, Debra (Dan) Carl of North Platte, Nebraska; Sharon (Mark) Sahlfeld of Beloit, and Diana Sanpaka of Kiowa, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Hesket.
Cremation is planned. His funeral will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Haven Community Building, 215 S. Reno St. Ave., Haven, Kansas, on July 27, 2024. Memorial contributions may be made to Beauties and Beasts, Inc. and may be mailed to Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Haven, Kansas 67543.
