Charith Owen

Charith Ann Owen, the daughter of Henry Albert and Beulah Mae (Frankforter) Hulse, was born Oct. 5, 1935, at Bruning, Nebraska. She died July 6, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 1 month.

Charith received her formal education attending the Belvidere High School, graduating with the Class of 1953. She was active in a variety of school activities. Because of her athletic ability, Charith played six years of varsity volleyball, excelling at the sport with both Bruning and Belvidere. In August of 1953, she was united in marriage with Quentin (Stub) Garrels. This union was blessed with two sons, Bruce in November of 1954, and Mark (Marty) in September of 1957. This marriage ended in divorce in 1967. She married William (Bill) Owen in February of 1978. Charith was employed for many years as the bookkeeper at Bill Morris Ford in Superior. In April of 2008, because of her failing health, she moved to Good Samaritan Center to live.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Bruce Garrels; her husband, Bill Owen; and her brothers, Dwain Keith Hulse, Kenneth Eugene Hulse, Gerald Lewis Hulse and Clifford Vaughn Hulse.

Surviving are her son, Mark Garrels and wife, Peggy; daughter-in-law, Kay Garrels; six grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m.,Wednesday, July 17, at the Bruning Cemetery in Bruning, Nebraska with the Rev. Glen Emory officiating.
