Brodstone Community Wellness reported the success of the 42nd Annual FireKracker Run, held on Thursday, July 4. This year the event was hosted for the first time by Brodstone Community Wellness; a task which was not taken lightly with the beloved event being hosted by Dr. Blecha and the Superior Joggers for the past 41 years.
The race welcomed 281 participants of all ages, who enjoyed a beautiful morning with blue skies contrary to the forecasted rain. Runners and walkers alike came together to celebrate Independence Day with a healthy dose of competition and community spirit. A special moment of recognition was held to honor Elmer Rempe, a key planner of the race who is dearly missed. His dedication and passion for the FireKracker Run will not be forgotten. Dr. Blecha and the Superior Joggers were also honored for their many years of success with the event and the impact they have made.
"We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to host this cherished event," said Jacki Siebecker, race director and Brodstone Community Wellness coordinator. "The turnout for the FireKracker Run each year is a testament to the Superior community, and this incredible tradition. We are honored to continue this legacy."
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of numerous sponsors and volunteers. Their combined efforts were instrumental in providing a fun race experience for all participants. Race winners are listed below:
