The 2024 Nuckolls County Fair has a busy 4-H and FFA schedule. Events begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 with the archery shoot.
The dog show followed by the companion animal show is at 9 a.m., Thursday, July 25. That evening at 6 will be the club pre-fair clean up.
Sunday, July 28 will be busy. At 3 p.m. is the performing arts and style review. At 4 p.m will be the favorite foods and culinary challenge. Between 5 and 7 p.m. is check-in for 4-H static and open class. Horse check-in is from 7 to 8 p.m.
Static judging and the horse show begin at 8 a.m. Monday, July 29. Open class check-in follows from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m.
On Tuesday, July 30, the hog check-in is from 7 to 9 a.m. Beef check-in is from 8 to 10 a.m. Sheep and goat check-in is from 9 to 11 a.m. Check in for poultry and rabbits is from 10 to 11 a.m. Starting at 1 to 3 p.m. are the bucket calf interviews. The ice cream contest is at 5:30 p.m. Horses must be on the fair grounds at 8 p.m.
The hog show begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 31. The sheep show begins at 1 p.m. with the goat show one half hour after the sheep. At 4:30 p.m. is a new event called 4-H Learn and Munch. The beef barbecue is at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. the kids’ rodeo will start. Sign up for this is at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 1 at 8 a.m. is the beef show. The rabbit show is at 1 p.m. with the poultry show one half hour after the rabbits. The chicken barbecue starts at 5 p.m. That evening the rodeo begins at 7:30.
Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 a.m. is the large animal round robin. The small animal round robin is one half hour after that.
Awards will be announced at 4 p.m. The 4-H pork barbecue starts at 5 p.m. The rodeo is at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 3, the fair winds down. 6 a.m. to noon is the animal and static exhibit release and clean-up. Payout is at noon. At 1 p.m. are the turtle races. The pedal tractor pull is at 2 p.m. The 2024 fair will come to an end.
