Superior retail sales decrease 10.3%

The Nebraska Department of Revenue has compiled a comparison of net taxable sales for all Nebraska counties for March 2024 and March 2023.

For Superior, retail sales declined 10.3 percent to just less than $2.2 million. In the same time period, Nuckolls County retail sales declined 2.8 percent to about $3.895 million.

March Thayer County’s net retail sales fell 21.3 percent to $2.695 million.

Webster County sales grew 7.2 percent to about $1.728 million.

Adams County sales were almost flat, growing 0.4 percent.

Clay County sales declined 11.9 percent to $1.951 million.

These totals do not include the value of motor vehicle sales.

The 2.8 percent Superior drop matched the statewide drop which was also 2.8 percent. Superior sales were up 2.8 percent in February while statewide February sales were up 3.1 percent. January sales were up 4.7 percent in Superior and 8.9 percent county-wide while state-wide sales dropped 4.1 percent in January.

In 2023 Superior sales grew 6.9 percent and county-wide sales 9.5 percent. Both exceeded the statewide 2022 growth which was 4.6 percent for March of 2023.
