2025 road plan unveiled Monday

Last year the Nebraska Department of Transportation had projects scheduled on the east, north and south approaches to Superior. We have gotten a reprieve this year and it appears the same will be true in 2025.

The roads department this week released plans for Fiscal Year 2025 which began Monday. Nuckolls County is in the state’s District 4 and it appears nothing is planned in or close to Nuckolls County in 2025 but work is planned for the five years following.

Those projects include resurfacing of the Oak and Deweese spurs, resurfacing of Highway 4 from Lawrence east 10.9 miles, Davenport west 12.9 miles, 13 miles from Davenport to the east, 10.9 miles east from the Highway 81 junction, Highway 5 from Deshler north 11 miles, Nebraska 8 from the Thayer-Jefferson county line east 14.3 miles and Highway 14 from Nelson north 11.4 miles. Also on Highway 14 is a viaduct project at Central City. Highway 78 from Guide Rock to Highway 4 is to be resurfaced, 13 miles of Highway 136 is to be resurfaced east and west of Ruskin. There are Highway 136 bridge projects planned in Webster County. 10.6 miles of Highway 136 is to be resurfaced in the Gilead area. Bridge work is planned on Highway 281 south of Red Cloud along with resurfacing the highway in Red Cloud.

The five-year plan also includes several Highway 81 projects in Thayer County. In Fiscal Year 2025, Highway 41 from Clay Center east 11.7 miles will be milled and resurfaced.
