Dolores Kucera

Dolores (Kohmetscher) Kucera, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully at the age of 93 on June 18, 2024. She was born July 13, 1930, to Alois and Helen (Lemke) Kohmetscher at Lawrence, Nebraska.

Dolores grew up on a farm near Lawrence, Nebraska. She attended Sacred Heart School through the 8th grade and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1947. After graduation she taught in local country schools for three years.

On June 6, 1950 she married Edmund Kucera at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence, Nebraska. They spent their entire married life farming in the area and upon retirement moved into a new home in Lawrence.

Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. During the many years as a parishioner, she served as a dedicated volunteer and an active Altar Society member.

She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, quilting, visiting friends and traveling. Her most cherished activity was her time with family.

She is survived by her children, Diane (John) Synek of Deweese, Nebraska, Joe (Lisa) Kucera of Omaha, Nebraska, Bob (Vicki) Kucera of Lawrence, Nebraska, Dan (Diane) Kucera of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mike (Karen) Kucera of Lincoln, Nebraska and Greg (Teena) Kucera of Lawrence, Nebraska; grandchildren, Doug (Paula) Synek, Kathy (Larry) Briggs, Dave Kucera (Ashley Burnett), Tim Kucera, Phil Kucera, Erin Kucera (Chelsea Schutter), Brad (Jessie) Kucera, Clint (Stephanie) Kucera, Andy (Alexandra) Kucera, Zac Kucera, Megan Kucera, Kenzee Kucera, Mattee Kucera and Krayton Kucera; great-grandchildren, Quentin, Jarrett, Emma and Tucker Synek, Natalie, Kayla and Haylie Briggs, Quintin Kucera, Grady and Keaton Kucera, Kyler Hegemann and Sage Kucera, Oscar, Renata and Calvin Kucera and Drew Kucera; sister, Patty Kucera; sister-in-law, Helen Kohmetscher; special friend, Albi Burger; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; parents-in law, Tom and Mary (Chvala) Kucera; brothers Robert (Kathleen) Kohmetscher, Gerald (Alice) Kohmetscher and Chester Kohmetscher; brother-in-law, Clem Kucera and sister-in-law, Lillian (Marshall) Stein and special friend, Jack Hlavac.

Visitation with family present was held at the Lawrence Funeral Chapel from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, with Rosary at 4 p.m.

Her funeral was Wednesday, June 26, at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Deweese, with Father Denton Morris officiating. Rosary was at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska.
