Edgar resident Debra Loraine (Neighbors) Stertz, 65, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no local services will be conducted.

Debra was born May 3, 1959, to Archie and Loraine (Thomas) Neighbors in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at Mercy Hospital. Debra attended and graduated from South Page Community High School in College Springs, Iowa. Later in life, she attended Central Community College, Hastings Campus. She graduated with a degree in culinary arts.
On June 9, 1982, she married Clark Stertz in Mankato, Kansas. They lived on a farm north of Edgar where they farmed and raised two daughters, Cai and Deana.
The family were members and attended the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Nebraska, until it closed. Then they joined the Edgar Presbyterian Church.
Debra enjoyed living on the farm and helping Clark with all the farming responsibilities. Debra knew no stranger and could start a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Debra is survived by her husband, Clark of Edgar; daughters, Cai (Brett) Powell of Nelson, Nebraska; and Deana Flodman of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren Reese, Bren, and Luka all of Grand Island; sister, Susan McCauley of Beatrice, Nebraska.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws.
