The regular monthly meeting for the Mankato Chamber of Commerce took place last Wednesday at the Buffalo Roam with six members present.
The Chamber discussed the Community Garden. Phyllis Christie reported she has a small community u-pick strawberry patch.
Haley Nelson gave an update on the Community Birthday Calendars. The invoices for those who ordered last year are done and members present at the meeting will help hand them out. The chamber decided there wouldn’t be a price increase for the ads for the businesses. Nelson will contact the businesses that advertised last year.
There was a website update from Jen Urbaniak. The company the chamber uses had raised the price to $576 for two years due May 30. On May 29, the company was offering a special if the chamber chose to renew for three years then the three years would cost $378 which would have been $756 normally. It was agreed that was the best option so the website was renewed for three years for $378.00.
The threshing bee will take place on Saturday, July 20. Kill Creek Rising will be playing from 8 to 12 a.m. for $600. The chamber will host the watermelon popping contest again this year. The chamber will get 15 watermelons and two $10 Chamber Bucks for the contest. Volunteers are needed to work the west gate. Emails will be sent to all the members to get volunteers.
The next regular monthly meeting will take place Wednesday, July 10 at the Roam.
The next meeting to plan Christmas in Mankato will be Thursday, July 11. Community members who would like to help plan the event are welcome to join.
