Fair’s theme this year is Blue Jeans & Country Dreams
Jewell County is getting ready for their two main summer events happening in July. The 2024 Jewell County Fair from July 9 to July 14 and the Jewell County Threshing Bee July 20 to July 21.
The Jewell County Fair’s theme this year is Blue Jeans & Country Dreams. There are many events planned for this year’s fair, including the Mayfield Horse Company American Freedom Drill Team, music by Brenda Flynn, and the Mayfield Horse Company Youth Rodeo. There will also be the horse show, poultry-rabbit show, pets show, beef show, swine show and sheep-goat show.
Come at 7 p.m., Friday, July 12 for goat roping and stay after that to see the horse show speed events.
Saturday, July 13 is Family Fun Night at the Fair. There will be a bouncy house and water slides, catch-an-animal, pedal tractor pull, muttin bustin’-bull riding, Mayfield Horse Company American Freedom Drill Team, and a dance with music by Brenda Flinn. There will be food trucks at the fair that night from 4 p.m. to close. The 4-H foodstand will not be available after 4 p.m. on Saturday.
At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, the Round Robin Showmanship contest begins. Stick around to see the Mayfield Horse Company Youth Rodeo starting at 1 p.m. The fair will wrap up with the livestock premium sale at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Jewell County Historical Society Annual Threshing Bee is July 20 through 21. It will be at the Mankato City Park and JC Historical Grounds. This year, the raffle tractor is a 1952 Oliver 77.
Saturday afternoon will bring the antique tractor parade at 1:30 p.m. The evening concert is Kill Creek Rising. There will be daily events including the steam engine sawmill and sawed wood auction, the blacksmith demonstration and iron art sale, Tom Zimmer will be the chain saw artist. There will be crosscut saw competitions, tractor pulls, garden tractor games, treasure tank, bounce house, food vendors and flea market vendors. There will also be a watermelon popping contest sponsored by the Mankato Chamber of Commerce.
Stop and see the antique 1910 Fairbanks Morse Engine that used to sit in the City Park as it has been newly restored. Featured tractors this year are Oddballs, Orphans & Crawlers.
