The Lawrence Country Club was the setting Sunday for the 64th Annual Men's Cow Chip Open Tournament. Fifty-fourgolfers participated in the two round open. Conditions were picture perfect with sunny skies, moderate temperatures and light winds.
Kelly Karmazin shot an opening round, four under par, 32, leaving the door open for other golfers to challenge. An eight under par, 28, in the second round, slammed the door on the competition and the tournament. Kelly won medalist honors for the lowest first round and took the tournament title with a 60.
Adam Engel shot a 68 to come away with second place in the championship flight. Brad Kohmetscher placed third with a 71.
Phil Schroer and Ed Karmazin tied for fourth with a 72, but the trophy went to Phil after the count back.
First flight results: 1st place- Dale Kohmetscher (75), 2nd place- Nathan Williams (76), 3rd place-Gary Buescher (78), and 4th place-Jerry Hoelting (78).
Second flight:1st place- Scott Pallas (78), 2nd place-Aaron Williams (80), 3rd place-Everett Nordby (80), and 4th place-Lonnie Mazour (82).
Third flight: 1st place- Wayne Kohmetscher (79), 2nd place- Dave Kohmetscher (81), 3rd place-Terry Cox (84), and 4th place-Shane Ostdiek (85).
Fourth flight: 1st place-Jeremy Hess (87), 2nd place- TrampasFischer (91), 3rd place- Garret Hofstetter (91), and 4th place- Mike Mazour (92).
Fifth flight: 1st place-Jimmy Mazour (98), 2nd place-Ron Janda(104), 3rd place- Clark Williams (109), and 4th place-Tim Klinger (115).
Flag prizes awarded were: Hole no. 1- Longest putt-Nathan Williams 15'5", Hole no. 2- Closest to pin on tee shot- Matt Weddingfeld 74", Hole no. 3- Longest drive in fairway-Kelly Karmazin, Hole no. 4- Closest to the pin on 2nd shot –David Kimminau 29", Hole no. 5-Closest to pin on 3rd shot- Phil Schroer 45", Hole no. 6- Closest to pin on tee shot-Kellen Reinsch 52", Hole no. 7-Closest to Bud Can on tee shot- Bob Hofstetter, Hole no. 8- Longest putt on green- Matt Weddingfeld 180", and Hole no. 9- Closest to pin on 2nd shot- Kelly Karmazin 144".
Couple's Night is this Friday. There will not be Couples golf on Friday, June 21 as previously sched- uled, because the club house is rented for a private party. Sunday, June 23 will be the Lawrence-Blue Hill 4-Person Tournament with the first round starting at the Lawrence Country Club.
