Robert "Bob" Shannon

Robert “Bob” Shannon, the son of Donald A. and Leora “Toots” (Turner) Shannon, was born Aug. 6, 1945, at Manchester, New Hampshire. He died June 8, 2024, at Bryan Medical Center East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 2 days.

Bob grew up in Webster County on the farm near Guide Rock and graduated from the Guide Rock High School with the Class of 1964. A veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Bob served his country from March 30, 1966, until his discharge on March 9, 1968. Bob lived in Denver, Colorado, from 1970 to 1978, and was employed at Denver International Airport, working with the ramp crew. He was united in marriage with Belinda Plant in 1972. Bob adopted her son, John, and then this union was also blessed with the birth of a son, Trevor. This marriage later ended in divorce. In 1978, Bob left Colorado and worked for a short period of time in Elkhart, Kansas. He then returned to Nebraska living in Red Cloud where he was employed with Lewis Grain; and later with Ely Grain in Guide Rock. He worked for many years with Peterson Industries in Smith Center, Kansas. Bob was married to Becky Ernst Yung. After 13 years, this union was dissolved.

In 1998, Bob and Pamela Frank developed a strong and caring relationship that enriched both their lives until his death. In 2006, Bob moved to Superior to make his home, driving a truck for Quality Redi-Mix. He enjoyed the work and retired from this position in May of 2020.

Throughout his life, Bob possessed a number of interests and activities. In his younger years, he enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing and camping. Along with his brother, Mike, and their crew they successfully raced stock cars at the Speed Bowl in Red Cloud. Bob looked forward to trips and time with Pam, especially going to Arkansas to go diamond hunting. In the summers, Bob raised a garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with family and friends.

Survivors are his best friend and traveling companion, Pamela Frank; his sister, Kathy Kucera; a brother, Mike Shannon; two sons, John Shannon and Trevor Shannon; two grandchildren; two step-daughters; and seven step-grandchildren.
