Roy Anderson

Roy Keith Anderson, the son of Ralph and Emma (Nelson) Anderson, was born April 10, 1940, at Salina, Kansas. He died on May 28, 2024, at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska.                          Roy graduated from Gypsum High School with the Class of 1957. Following the completion of his formal education, he worked several years in central Kansas, gaining experience from an implement dealer, home construction and working at his Uncle Pip’s service station. In 1965, he purchased the farm at Guide Rock, Nebraska. Roy was united in marriage with Rosemary Sund on June 13,1970, at Salem Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children. They made their home at their farm north of Guide Rock their entire life. Roy enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle and invested a tremendous amount of time and energy caring for the land. He was well known for his garden. Roy was a member of South Central Cattlemen, Nebraska Cattlemen and NCBA; Mason’s and Eastern Star; and he served on many boards including the Lower Republican NRD, Farmer’s Union Co-op, Webster County Extension Board, Rural Guide Rock Fire Board and a was 4-H leader. Most recently he and Rosemary were incredibly honored to join their son, Troy, in being honored as the 2023 Certified Angus Beef Commercial Producer of the Year.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother, Wayne Anderson and wife, Judy, mother-in-law, Ruby Sund, father-in-law, George Sund, sister-in-law, Peggy Anderson, and brother-in-law, George Sund, Jr.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rosemary of Guide Rock; children, Dawn Caldwell and husband, Matt of Edgar, Chris Anderson and wife, Neile of Hastings, Troy Anderson of Guide Rock, and Gail Martin and husband, Jeremy of Wellfleet; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Anderson and wife, Jane and Ralph Anderson, Jr and wife, Carol; special cousin, Mike Anderson; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and his many friends.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska.

Visitation with family present will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the Williams Funeral Home, Red Cloud, Nebraska.
