Ute still needs volunteers

The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. (JCCI) Board met May 20, 2024 at the Mankato Christian Church and was called to order by Thadd Hinkle. Members present were Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Sarah Ortman, Janis McDill, Linda and Virgil Jones, Lisa Goodheart, and Janelle Greene.

Janis McDill presented the treasurer’s report, stating she has paid Sonic for the last repair bill in the amount of $2,317.45. She will ask Sonic for an explanation of the mileage charges. The upcoming movies are “Unsung Hero,” “The Fall Guy” and “The Garfield Movie.” Janis is trying to book “IF” for the weekend of June 21-23.

In old business, Thadd Hinkle said he plans to work on the marquee and the LED running lights during the summer, and he has ordered a new power supply for the projector. More volunteers are needed to run the theater!

In new business, discussion was held about the elementary school using the theater on the last day of school. The application for use of the theater for that day was filled out stating there would be no concessions but the popcorn supplies and machine were used. The concessions area was cleaned and a donation was made to the theater, but the board agreed that those arrangements need to be made ahead of time - no last-minute changes.

Phyllis Christie said Rock Hills school has inquired about having a student clean the theater during the next school year, with supervision, for skills training. The board agreed to the request.

The ice cream social and bingo fundraiser has been approved and is on the school calendar. Contact Phyllis if you are interested in volunteering.

Thadd adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be Monday, June 24.
