The state track and field championship meet at Omaha's Burke Stadium is the ultimate test for student athletes. The Superior girls track and field team qualified for the meet. Students compete against the best athletes from across the state in Class C.
The team finished in 17th place, with 12 points, in the 49 team field of teams which recorded points.
Khloe Mundorf competed in a preliminary heat of the 100 meter dash, with her time of 13.01 seconds, but did not advance to the final heat,
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Faith Butler, Sadie Cornell, Ariana Heusinkvelt and Mundorf recorded a time of 51.28 seconds, which put them in 12th place.
Madison Heusinkvelt earned the second place points in the shot put with her toss of 40'11". A. Heusinkvelt took ninth place with her toss of 37'9".
M. Heusinkvelt landed seventh place in the discus with her throw of 123'7".
Butler picked up seventh place in the pole vault when she cleared 10'.
A. Heusinkvelt was in 24th place in the long jump with her best effort of 13'7.25".
The meet was conducted under ideal weather conditions in Omaha. Butler, Cornell and Mundorf will return next season. M. Heusinkvelt graduated while A. Heusinkvelt will attend another high school next year.
