Tessie Lorraine Gray Bartholomew died of natural causes on May 17, 2024, at a hospital near her home in Allen, Texas. It was just two days shy of what would have been her 96th birthday.
Tessie was born in Superior, Nebraska to Albert and Clista Gray on May 19, 1928. She was the sixth of nine children. She graduated from high school in Superior, Nebraska.
Tessie was married to John Bartholomew in 1946, in Fremont, Ohio. They farmed near Hardy, Nebraska and Webber, Kansas before moving to Mankato, Kansas in 1958. Tessie enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and participated in many clubs in the Mankato area.
Tessie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Wendling; son Donn Bartholomew and wife, Glenda; son Richard Bartholomew and wife, Deb; six grandchildren including Amy Wendling, Sarah Wendling Pittenger, Darrick Bartholomew, Armeshia Bartholomew Onken, Seth Barthol- omew, and Tanner Bartholomew; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sibling, Alberta June Gray White of San Diego, California, age 98.
She was preceded in death by John Bartholomew and grandson Justin Bartholomew.
