A graveside burial service for Lorene Friend were held at the Sacred Heart parish cemetery east of Lawrence Saturday, May 18, 2024. Father Bernie Kimminau was in charge of the service where Lorene was laid to rest next to her husband, Robert Friend.
Lorene D. Friend was 95 upon her death Nov. 24, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. She was born to John and Bertha Lemke, Nov. 6, 1928.
Lorene married Robert Friend and is the mother of six children. She was an active member of the community and Sacred Heart parish all her life until she moved to Hastings following the death of Robert in 1990. She moved to Texas in 2002 to be closer to her family who lived there.
Her children are: Fred (Lisa) Friend, Judy (Brad) Timberlake, Ken (Kelly) Friend, Bob (Denise) Friend, Linda Kimminau and Tim (Lori) Friend.
The Friend family hosted a reception and lunch following the services at the Lawrence Country Club for family and friends.
