The Rock Hills High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Northern Plains League meet at Tescott Thursday.
The girls team finished in second place, with 67 points, in the 12 team field of Osborne, Stockton, Sylvan Grove, St. John’s-Beloit, Lincoln, Pike Valley, Tescott, Tipton Catholic, Lakeside, Thunder Ridge and Southern Cloud. The boys team finished in third place with 77 points.
Bethany Simmelink took second place honors in the 100 meter dash. Halle Mizner was in sixth place while Grace Ayers held eighth place.
Bethany Simmelink was the first across the finish line in the 200 meter dash. Chloe Rothchild aslo competed.
Savannah Coil was in sixth place in the 400 meter dash. Rothchild also took part in the event.
Hannah Simmelink finished in second place in the 800 meter run. Alivia Lindberg was in seventh place.
Lindberg and Peyton Zadina competed in the 1600 meter run.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Mizner, Coil, Ayers and B. Simmelink finished in second place.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team of B. Simmelink, Mizner, Lindberg and H. Simmelink earned the second place points.
Mizner had a fourth place finish in the high jump.
Ayers claimed second place in the long jump. Coil nabbed fourth place in the triple jump.. Faith Reinert held down third place in the shot put.
Reinert was in sixth place in the javelin throw while Carsyn Vizner was in eighth place.
Isaiah Ridgeway listed a fourth place finish in the boys 100 meter dash.
Ridgeway was in second place in the 200 meter dash. Spencer Lindberg also took part.
Lindberg picked up sixth place in the 400 meter dash.
Trystyn Reynolds had a first place finish in the 800 meter run. Cooper McDill grabbed third place with Kobi Bowers in seventh place.
Reynolds claimed third place in the 1600 meter run. Justin Luong was in third place.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Ridgeway, Cam Ward, Cooper McDill and Nate Meyers claimed second place.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Reynolds, Luong, Bowers and McDill sat in second place.
Ward took second place in the high jump.
Meyers secured first place points in the long jump.
Eli Whelchel, Aaron Underwood and Kaden Wurm took part in the shot put.
Underwood, Wurm and Mason McMains participated in the discus throw.
Whelchel, Ridgeway and McMains competed in the javelin throw.
The Grizzlies travel to Washington today (Thursday) for their regional meet. Rock Hills team members will attempt to qualify for the state meet in Wichita.
Schools at the meet will be Axtell, St. John’s, Centralia, Clifton-Clyde, Lakeside, Frankfort, Glasco, Hanover, Doniphan west, St. Xavier, Thunder Ridge, Linn, Logan, Miltonvale, Natoma, Onaga, Osborne, Blue Valley, Pike Valley, Solomon, Stockton, Sylvan-Lucas, Tescott, Tipton Catholic, Troy, Victoria, Wakefield and Washington County.
