"What a difference a day makes" is an old saying. In this case, maybe it was about two weeks that made a difference.
Back on May 2, the L-N Raiders won the TVC tourney by one stroke.
Now, on May 13, the 2024 District D-1 golf tournament was won in Grand Island . . . by two strokes.
Ya, the Raiders won the district title outright by two strokes. The team came in with a score of 350 according to Coach Jerad Niederklein. The team, mostly seniors consisted of: Connor Janda who had an 83, Jacob Kathman 84, Bayln Bargen 90, Carson Vaughn 93 and Clay Williams 93.
The team score of 350 was followed by Sutton with 352, Ravenna 356, Sandy Creek 362, Sandy Creek 362, Red Cloud 375 and followed by Elmwood-Murdock, Deshler, Silver Lake, Fullerton, BDS, Blue Hill, Heartland Lutheran, Franklin, High Plains and Lewiston.
The Raider team's score was 25 strokes better than the TVC championship score.
Connor Janda's 83 and Jacob Kathman's 84 were the 7th and 8th lowest scores of the day.
The state neet for Class D team will be May 23-24 at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte, Nebraska.
