The Jewell City Council met Monday, May 6, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor, Darrell Bohnert, Council Members, Don Delzeit, Josh Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman, and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.
Library board members talked about the library budget proposal for 2025. The proposal was approved.
James Reed, code enforcement officer, was absent and presented a written report. Reed reported the properties he is working with to get up to code. Reed also said the delinquent dog tag owner’s results from court.
Jeron McMillan provided the monthly maintenance report. He told about the work he did on the sewer pond and finishing up the city wide cleanup trash hauling.
Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson talked about filing the APRA grant report that was due in April and mentioned the final day to spend all the money grant. Anderson also gave an update on events booked at the community center and motel reservation.
Anderson presented three building permits. All three were approved. Anderson also presented two applications for library board member spots. The two applicants for the new library board members were approved.
A motion to appoint Kristie Anderson, city clerk; Jim Johnson, judge; and Jacque Wiliams, treasurer, was approved.
Anderson provided the current fire contracts to review. They were approved by the council.
The annual Jewell Community Center Association meeting was held.
