Commissioners proclaim May Mental Health Month

The Jewell County Commissioners met Monday, May 6. Commissioners Keith Roe, Ed Duski, and Brent Beck were present. Carla Waugh, county clerk, was present for the meeting.

Shannon Meier, ambulance director, reviewed the billing and activity reports for April. He discussed coroner calls and the need for a county designated deputy coroner.

Nate Saathoff discussed a right of way that needs to be deeded to landowner that is located in section 1 of Montana township.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed bridge projects. He also discussed rock projects. The commissioners approved replacing the bridge between sections 12 and 13 of Vicksburg Township. Commissioners amended the motion from April 29 to transfer $350,000 from Road to the Special Highway and $0 to Special Road Equipment.

Commissioners went into executive session for 10 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel beginning with Joel Elkins present. Regular session resumed with no action taken.

Don Jacobs, sheriff, said that Elliot Kimminau graduated from KLETC. He discussed patrol vehicle repairs. He said they will be attending a two-day training.

Cindy Becker, health administrator, said the department is able to purchase the dehumidifier with the COVID grant. She discussed estimates for repairs to the basement.

Wil Browers, pastor of the Dispatch Church, checked on the status of Dispatch road repairs.

The commissioners approved the Cereal Malt Beverage Licenses for Aaron Coil D.B.A. Lovewell Marina.

Karen Boden, Pawnee Mental Health Representative, read the proclamations for May as Mental Health Month. Commissioners approved the Proclamation for May as Mental Health Month.
