The First Jam Session pleases sponsors

On Sunday Randy and Betty Sauce successfully put on their first Jam Session at the Superior Auditorium. Area musicians were invited to bring their instruments and join them for a musical afternoon. Members of the general public were invited to gather and listen to the music.

Having been a member of the Good Time Country and All Kinds of Country bands, Randy is passionate about his music and has no problem performing in front of a crowd.  He started playing guitar when he was nine but didn't really get into it until the age of 14.  Previously Randy and Betty were hosting a karaoke night at the Nelson Legion Club.

Banjoist Rob Edmiston and Ukeleliator John Kaldahl joined Randy who brought his green Ovation and beautiful self-made electric guitars to pluck. The three played a few songs including Boogie Man, Amazon Annie, Oh Nellie and Dixie  and then were joined by fellow guitarist Jeff Erpelding who plays in the band Higher Yields.  A few songs later, Jeff's daughter, Ava, a twelve-year-old student in Superior, fought her nerves, walked up on stage with her flute and began a fantastic rendition of the national anthem.  Randy Suace immediately stood, removed his hat and placed his hand over his heart. The other musicians and the audience followed suit. Ava finished to applause from the audience and her fellow musicians.

Singer Stephanie Thayer and guitarist Brad Shultz from Chicken Parts wasted no time bringing the house down with a handful of songs beginning with a cover of Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.

Mr. Sauce said he was pleased by the results of this first jam session and the number of people who attended. He hopes this event will continue to grow and become a monthly occurrence.

As a member of the auditorium committee noted after the session, "Come on out and enjoy some good country music, we have a lot of musicians around, we just need to get the word out!"
