The Jewell County Commissioners met April 15. Commissioners Ed Duskie and Brent Beck, and Carla Waugh, county clerk, were present for the meeting.
Kevin Peroutek, emergency preparedness director and 9-1-1 director, said the reporting for the federal grant funding is required to be submitted by the end of April. Laura Leite will review the expenses.
Don Jacobs, sheriff, said it was National Dispatcher Week. He reported on the repairs for the white Ford Explorer.
James Vaughan IV, solid waste director, discussed purchasing a used 48-foot solid waste disposal trailer from Cloud County.
Clark Howland discussed thistles in his area.
Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed equipment repairs, projects they have completed and current rock projects. Ed Duskie inquired about putting some asphalt on the black top west of Jewell located on H Road as it would help with the bridge. Elkins said he looked at the Dispatch bridge and road. He agreed the road needs to be rocked.
Don Jacobs, sheriff, had the current value of the Ford Explorer. It was decided to repair the Ford Explorer and continue to use it.
Laura Leite, Cottonwood Consulting, discussed the reporting requirements for the federal grant funding. She said the funds must be obligated by Dec. 31, 2024. Kevin Peroutek, emergency preparedness director and 9-1-1 director, was also present for the discussion.
