The regular meeting of the Mankato City Council was called to order by Mayor Justin Schoonover on April 2. Councilmembers present were Sam Becker, Kevin Ost, Stuart Boyles, George Hennion and Rodney Payne. Also present were Anthony Roy, city administrator, Darrell Miller, city attorney, and Sharon McCormick, assistant city clerk.
Visitors present were: Kyra Lampe, Jack Alcorn, Sheriff Don Jacobs and Shelby Dennard.
Kyra Lampe presented the Year End Review for the Jewell County Community Development Association.
The City of Mankato approved to pay $3,600 for management of the RLF loans.
Don Koester presented a building permit from the historical society for a building at the city park. The proposed building would occupy part of the city’s right of way. The council agreed to allow the building to be built on the right of way.
The council went in to executive session with the governing body, Darrell Miller, Anthony Roy, Sharon McCormick, and Sheriff Don Jacobs to discuss matters that are deemed privileged pursuant to the attorney-client privilege exception K.S.A 75-4319. The council resumed their regular meeting in the council chambers with no action taken.
Mayor Schoonover appointed Leonard Rogers to the library board.
The city council reviewed the delinquent accounts and revolving loan report.
The city council reviewed Resolution 2024-03 No Parking. No action was taken.
The council approved resolution 2024-02 Accessible Parking at the Lutheran Church.
Administrator Anthony Roy reviewed options for tablets for the city council. The council approved the purchase of either an Apple or Samsung (Android) tablet for each council person and city attorney.
Sharon McCormick and Anthony Roy talked with the council about the city pool.
The council approved pay rates for pool employees as presented.
It was approved to send out for hay lease bids in May.
Administrator Roy gave the council a quick review of the water conference he and several city employees attended.
