Sydney Biltoft came in second in the 100 M. hurdles. Sydney also ran the 300 meter hurdles and came in first in that grueling event at the Deshler track meet last week.
That's right . . . it's Track Season. The sport changes to outside events, like the Triple Jump. Above Carter Griffis is pictured in mid-leap at the first outside track meet of the season at Deshler. Carter finished in third place, two feet behind teammate Jackson Williams who won the event and team mate, Aidan Zikmund who finished in second.
It can be lonely at the top. Jessica Sole finished in first place in both the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run at the first outdoor track meet of the season at Deshler last week.
If it's cold one day . . . warm the next day . . . and maybe snow the next day . . . its spring in Nebraska and for high schools across the state, it indicates the spring sports can begin.
For the L-N Raiders that meant a 'warm-up' event at Doane College and then the first outdoor meet of the season at Deshler.
The boys' team is made up of underclassmen with some gaining athletic experience in other sports. The girls have three seniors that will contribute greatly to their efforts this spring.

The girls brought home three gold medal finishes and five 2nd place silver at Deshler. The seniors provided good leadership by example as they brought home the gold. Underclass- women got a taste of varsity action and show promise for the coming season. Individual results. (PR = Person Record)

DOANE INDOOR MEET: Traditionally for many high schools, the first track event of the season is an indoor meet. The Raiders usually attend the indoor meet at Doane College. The number of events are reduced, but the number of teams is usually a good number. This year there were 13 teams in the size classification of L-N. The results:
BOYS: L-N scored 10 points and was 8th out of the 13 teams.
The scoring was accomplished by Cody Funk who finished 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 17'9.5".
Jackson Williams finished 4th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 36'8".
GIRLS: L-N scored 13 points and placed 9th out of the 13 teams.
Adding to the scoring total were: Sydney Biltoft, 4th in the 60 M. Hurdles, 10.70.
The 1600 M. Relay team placed 5th with a time of 4:58.20: Sydney Biltoft, Paige Huston, Natalia Wehrman, Kynnedy Beale.
Hanna Skinner was 6th in the Long Jump, 13'4".
Paige Huston was 3rd in the Triple Jump, 27'11.75".
