Skating rinks were popular attractions

In March of 1918 plans were announced for roller skating rink at Nelson. In later years rinks were also opened in Hardy and Superior.

By the 1970s all the rinks were closed and the community of Superior began a fund drive to build and equip a new rink which became known as the Simic Recreation Center.

After being closed with the arrival of the COVID pandemic, a community group is again raising funds with the goal of making repairs and reopening the rink by the fall of 2024.

Sunday a fund raising meal and open house is planned at the rink. For more details see the advertisement in this issue of The Express.
