Rock Hills Board of Education accepts resignations
On Monday, President Marc Grout called the regular meeting of the Board of Education for USD No. 107 to order. Those present were, Marc Grout, Kenny Mizner, Brandon Hollerich, Bobi Fogo, Wayne Frost, Justin Angleton, Brenden Wirth (Zoom), Jeff Sells, Sam Meyers, Cassi Bozarth and Janet Higer.
The facility and grounds report was given. At the junior-senior high school spraying for weeds in the Ag-Woods Shop parking area has begun.
Custodial staff are working on closets, fixing toilet paper dispensers-paper towel dispensers and toilet seats.
Steve Christie replaced roll out sensor in the Ag shop Modine heater. He installed a higher rated sensor.
As part of the old insurance work, Mahaney roofing is scheduled to come out in April to start fixing the roof and recoating.
At the elementary school, swing sets are being repaired. A new freezer was purchased and installed.
At the junior-senior high school, emergency lights are being replaced and monthly checks made to ensure equipment is working.
The sewer line was cleared. Mold test samples were taken from the pre-k classroom, the crawl space under the classroom and outside as a control. Results are back and there are no harmful or unordinary mold in the areas.
Principal’s report: Abby Elkins took 17 junior high students to the Brown Grand theater for a tour of the facility and to watch a performance.
The FFA officer team will take part in a leadership retreat in Omaha.
All juniors will take the ACT examination.
Friday, April 5, will be the meeting and deadline for all students to turn in all of their paperwork and money to reserve a spot for drivers education training for the Summer of 2024.
Prom will be Saturday, April 6.
Elementary Principal’s Report:
Parent-teacher conferences were well attended.
The fourth grade class traveled to Marysville for their field trip.
The fifth grade class made their annual trip to the Cosmosphere.
Superintendent’s Report: The strategic plan was finalized and approved.
Superintendent attended several meetings during the month and the CTE conference in Manhattan.
The board approved the buy back option presented by Copeland Insurance.
The board discussed an official logo design.
A discussion was held on the track surface. The consensus was to bid the project out and move forward with resurfacing the track.
The board went in to executive session. When the meeting resumed, they accepted the resignation of Cassi Bozarth as elementary principal.
A contract was offered to Lacey Keller as elementary principal for the 2024-35 school year.
Resignations were accepted for Kara Gilbert, high school chemistry and physics teacher; Nick Naasz, junior high social studies teacher; Daniel Reid, custodian; Martina Blackwell, elementary cook; Shyanne Kastrup, high school cheer coach; Zach Duffy, head high school boys basketball coach; assistant high school volleyball coach, Tiffany Collins.
Shannon Meier was elevated to head high school track coach. Lynette Huntsinger was hired as substitute teacher-para educator.
Sam Meyers’ junior-senior high school principal’s contract was extended one year.
The next regular meeting will be at 1 p.m., Monday, April 8, in the board room of the office unless otherwise notified through social media or usd107.org website.
