The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. (JCCI) board met March 25, at the Mankato Christian Church and by Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Thadd Hinkle. Members present were Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Sarah Ortman, Janis McDill and Janelle Greene in person and Lisa Goodheart and Kristin Underwood by Zoom.
The minutes of the February meeting were accepted by consensus. Janis McDill presented the treasurer’s report, stating the theater lost $502.16 the prior month. She also reported “Ordinary Angels” did well.
Phyllis Christie reminded the board there will be a private party at the theater on Saturday, April 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. Janis said the extended warranty cost for the next year is $1,769.25. The board voted the previous month to move $2,000 from the account in Mankato Endowment to checking. The board approved an additional $2,000 be moved to checking to cover the cost of the extended warranty. More volunteers are needed to run the theater.
Phyllis suggested the theater provide six gift certificates for the Mankato Easter egg hunt. The board approved the certificates. Colored “strip” lights will be purchased for the bottom of the curtain at the bottom of the movie screen. Discussion was held on upcoming movies. Janis will see about cancelling “Turning Red” and move “Dune: Part 2” in its place. She will try to schedule “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “Arthur the King,” “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” “Ghostbusters, Frozen Empire,” “Someone Like You,” “Cabrini,” “Arcadian,” “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” “The Fall Guy” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejucie.” The theater season ends with Memorial Weekend. The board would like to remind those with gift certificates and popcorn certificates to use them before then. People interested in volunteering are to contact Phyllis.
Thadd adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be Monday, April 29.
