Jewell Awarded Champlin Tire Recycling Grant

The Jewell City Council met Monday, April 1, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert, council members, Don Delzeit, Josh Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

Carol Divel was present and discussed the flower garden on the south side of the community center.

Sheriff Don Jacobs reported the city of Jewell has low activity.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, told of the properties he is working with to get up to code. He also mentioned taking the delinquent dog tag owners to court.

Jeron McMillan provided the monthly maintenance report. McMillan mentioned getting two loads of limestone rocks. The council approved the purchase of the Ditch Witch from Cawker City.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson said the city was awarded the Champlin Tire Recycling Grant. She gave an update on events booked at the community center and motel reservation.

The land bank board presented their minutes from their last meeting.

In unfinished business, Bohnert gave an update on the street lights for the concert on April 5th.

The Fair Housing Proclamation was approved.

For the Community Center, Bohnert sad the ice machine was fixed.
