Ministers bring Todd Becker Story to Superior Wednesday evening

Todd Becker, was a senior at Kearney High School, playing football with dreams of being a professional player, yet the partying side got the best of him. Tragically, an alcohol-related automobile accident claimed his life in February 2005. Keith, Todd’s older brother, was Todd’s party influencer. After the funeral, a Baptist pastor approached Keith to impart God’s love and forgiveness. Because of Todd’s death and Keith making a commitment to God, the course of Keith’s life and thousands of young people since then have changed direction to the “narrow path.” Keith began to share this message with people and eventually began outreaches at high schools. Keith saw the positive impact it had on youth to make better choices in life. The response has been immense.

The foundation has worked with more than 1,800 ministries and presented at more than 750 public high schools across 14 states. The event requires semi-trucks to bring loads of stage equipment, which transforms school gyms to a state-of-the-art theatre. They are soon to transform the gymnasium at Superior High School and the hopes of many from the community.

Hear the Story-Be Moved is the title of the presentation to be given by the Todd Becker Foundation by speaker, Keith Becker at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17. The doors open at 6:40 p.m. and the first 15 students to arrive will get a free band t-shirt. The program will feature a concert by the All the Noise Band. Admission is free and open to the community.

Local churches have planned this event for a couple of years. Pastor Jon Albrecht has headed the event and fundraising. Various churches and organizations around town have donated to make this event possible believing this is a valuable outreach. “We believe it will be an impact on young people for years to come,” said Albrecht. The Todd Becker Foundation’s proverb is to “Help students with the choices that will affect them for the rest of their lives.”

At the conclusion of the night there will be representatives from participating local churches available for a one-on-one time with individuals who want to accept the gospel invitation and learn about getting plugged-in to a church.
