The Jewell County Commissioners met April 1 with commissioners Ed Duskie and Brent Beck present. Carla Waugh, county clerk, attended the meeting.
Tony Miller, NCK CASA, had a proclamation for April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The commissioners approved the proclamation.
Cindy Becker, health administrator, had the All Hands on Deck grant application for the commissioners’ approval. The commissioners approved signing the application for the health department. The commissioners went into executive session for 5 minutes to discuss confidential data relating to financial affairs for the health department. Regular session resumed with no action taken.
The commissioners approved the 2024 expenses for the Presidential Preference Primary and signing the reimbursement request to the Kansas Secretary of State.
James Vaughan, solid waste director, discussed hiring for the open position.
Joel Elkins, general superintendent, had two tire bids: Midway Co-op - $22,230.00; Randall Co-op - $32,544.00. The commissioners tabled a decision to allow Elkins to verify tread design on the bid tires.
The commissioners discussed personnel with Amanda Davis, register of deeds. Amanda discussed disposal of office equipment.
