Last Wednesday, members of the Superior FFA Chapter competed at district Career Development Events (CDE's), hosted at Central Community College in Hastings. The chapter took nine teams: ag science, livestock management, welding, natural resources, agronomy, ag mechanics, meat evaluation, ag business, and food science.
Two students placed first in their proficiency. Ava Kirchhoff placed first in poultry, and Oakley Ward placed first in outdoor recreation.
Food science team placed first and will represent the district at state. The food science team includes Thomas Mathis, Faith Butler, Lilly Edwards and Sophia Fullerton.
The agronomy team placed second and will represent their district at state. Members of the agronomy team are Carsyn Koenig, Cayce Barry, Mia Gardner and Halle Bargen.
The welding team also placed first. Members of the welding team are Lenden Worm, Tye Ward, Jackson Bernal and Cooper Benjamin. Benjamin placed first in individual mig welding. Worm placed first in individual stick welding.
The ag science team included: Aiden Young, Jaialynn Lueking, Reagan Meyers, Ryan Sanders-Kramp, OIivia Smullins, Evah Roberts, and Olivia Eitzmann. The livestock management team included: Ava Kirchhoff, Cooper Ehlers, Maddi Bargen, and Oakley Ward. The natural resource team included: Declan Miller, Colten Butler, Caiden Smullins, Cecily Majors. The ag mechanics team included: Dylan Edwards, Kash Wenske, Treyton Korb, and Trey Blau. The meat evaluation team included: Thalia Grijalva, Ariana Heusinkvelt, Braydon Wulf, Aaron Grassmann. Ag business consisted of Colten McCutchon.
Team who qualified for state competition will continue to practice. State FFA will be April 3-5.
