Superior FFA participates in National FFA Week

As part of National FFA week, upper class Superior FFA Chapter members conducted the annual Greenhand ceremony Tuesday morning at a school assembly.

To earn the degree the recipient must demonstrate a knowledge of the FFA Code of Ethic and the proper use of the FFA jacket. They must also demonstrate a knowledge of the history of the organization, the chapter constitution and bylaws and chapter program activities.

After the official ceremony, greenhands dipped their hands into green dye and were offered green Koolaid.

The FFA Chapter is also sponsoring daily dress up days and activities for both elementary and secondary students this week to celebrate National FFA week.

Middle school and secondary students are competing to collect the most pop cans, which will be recycled.

Monday suggested dress was red, white, and blue to match the theme of ‘Merica Monday. During the half hour home room, students gathered in the high school gym to watch “Hungry Hippos.” The game consisted of four classes (9-12), two from every class, one student would lie down on a scooter and try to grab dodgeballs while the other would steer. During the morning and afternoon, a few high school students played ag bingo with preschool and kindergarten students.

Tuesday, FFA Chapter members wore chapter T-shirts. Upper level students played dodgeball. Members taught roping lessons to the fourth and fifth grade classes.

Wednesday dress was western and chapter members attended CDE’s in Hastings at Central Community College.

Thursday’s dress was “chore attire.” An obstacle course was set up during home room. First and second grade students were also asked join in on the obstacle course fun.

Friday was official dress. The home room activity was a hog-cow calling contest. FFA members played pin the tail on the donkey with third grade students. During the last 20 minutes of the school day, high school students plan an outdoor clean up.
