Last week was full of appointments, On Tuesday I took Mom to the dentist, on Wednesday I took myself to the doctor, and on Friday George had appointments at the VA.
On the way to the dentist on Tuesday, I got to know the little car better. It’s not a fast car, that’s for sure! The top speed is 65 MPH. I could go faster but the motor might blow up. LOL! It has an awesome stereo system if you are a teenager. I was sitting in the car, waiting for Mom listening to the radio with the key on. and decided to turn the base down. I got it perfect but as soon as I started the car, the base was up again. Turns out the car has a sub, and it’s only on when the car is running. Even with the base turned down, it still sounds like you’re at a nightclub.
A few weeks ago George asked what I wanted for Valentine’s Day. I was quick to answer and said, “See the kids!” Very romantic, I know. LOL. So Saturday we headed to Junction City to see Robert and Julia and their apartment. We have been wanting to visit since they moved in September, but things haven’t worked out until now. We took Duke along to meet their dog, Freya, and they were fast friends. They would’ve played for hours if we had let them. At one point they were just both lying on the floor batting their paws at one another. The dogs are the same age but Duke is about twice the size of Freya. She was climbing all over him, and he didn’t seem to mind a bit.
We took the kids to the cell phone store to add Julia to our plan. The boys are still on our plan but pay us for their phones and service. It saves them quite a bit of money each month. Julia hasn’t had decent service with her old provider since they moved, and they had asked us about adding her a while back, but to port her number over she had to be with us. We thought it would be a quick little thing to do before going out for lunch, but we were wrong. What should have taken us 30 minutes took two and a half hours.
After the cell phone fiasco, we went to the park and took a few pictures. Julia had asked me to bring my camera and take a few couple photos for them. Although it was cold, I was more than happy to do it. She had a few places in mind to take pictures but since the cell phone thing took forever, she decided on the park.
After the photo session, we had lunch and went back to their apartment to let the dogs play and chit-chat until it was time to head home. The two dogs played like there was no tomorrow and didn’t even bark once. You didn’t want to get in the way, though, because they were all over the place. Julia just kept moving furniture to ensure nothing would get broken. It was entertaining.
Duke has this horrible habit of not wanting to potty while we are out, but since we had been out so long, he had pottied a couple times. I tried to get him to potty before we left with no luck. So we got in the car and headed home. About halfway home, he started to get restless and we were looking for a place to pull over, but were too late. He wet the back seat! We finally got pulled over at a Walmart and cleaned up the mess as well as we could. Duke was hanging his head in embarrassment and thought he was in trouble. I did my best to assure him he wasn’t as I complained and scrubbed the entire backseat with cleaner and paper towels. I hope he learned his lesson about holding it for so long because I don’t want to have to shampoo the car every time we go on a long trip.
The weatherman says our spring-like weather is coming to an end, and we have a chance of snow this weekend, pray it doesn’t hang around as long as the last batch did. X’s & O’s.
