Volunteers are needed to operate the Ute theater

The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. (JCCI) Board met last Monday, at the Mankato Christian Church and by Zoom. Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Sarah Ortman and Janis McDill were present in person and Lisa Goodheart, Linda Jones and Kristin Underwood were present via Zoom.

Janis McDill reported she has paid all outstanding bills, including the quarterly sales tax. She said the theater lost $275 last month.

In old business, Phyllis Christie said the kettle on the popcorn machine needs to be deep cleaned. She will look for appropriate cleaning supplies. Linda Jones will deliver movie posters to Courtland to advertise the Ute. More volunteers are needed to run the theater.

In new business, discussion was held on upcoming movies. Feb. 2-4 will be The Boys in the Boat and Feb. 10-12 will be Wonka. Janis will look in to getting Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, Ordinary Angels, Argyle, Turning Red, Monk and the Gun, Arthur the King and Kung Fu Panda 4. The Hill will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25 and March 10. This will be a DVD and admission will be by donation. Discussion was held on heating the theater. Anthony Roy, city administrator, has been informed of the water leak in the back room, as it is possibly a gutter or roof problem. It was approved to reimburse Sarah Ortman for the Christmas decorations in the theater.

Contact Phyllis if you are interested in volunteering.

The next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 26.
