Jewell and Republic county commissioners discuss sanitary code

The Jewell County Commissioners met Jan. 22. Commissioners Keith Roe, Ed Duskie and Brent Beck and Carla Waugh, county clerk, were present for the meeting.

Republic County Commissioners telephoned to discuss the state sanitary code and sanitarians.

Steve Melnick, Colonial Insurance, reviewed group term life insurance policies that are available for county employees. He also reviewed group accident insurance along with accidental death and disability insurance. The commissioners said they would consider the policies.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, provided wage changes for three employees. He discussed snow removal and equipment repairs.

Don Jacobs, sheriff, requested permission to purchase a taser for $1,600 from AXON with cartridges at an additional charge. This is to replace a taser that is no longer operational. The commissioners gave their approval.
