Retired intelligence officer to speak at Nelson Monday

Nuckolls County Republicans have invited a former federal intelligence agent, now retired to discuss current affairs at a public meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Nelson Community Center meeting room located directly south of the Nelson Auditorium.

The speaker will be Anthony Neidhardt. He was raised on a small farm near Albion. After graduating from Albion High School in 1990, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and eventually became a special agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

His first assignment was at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey where he conducted felony level criminal, fraud and counter intelligence investigations. After 911, he was stationed throughout Eastern Europe and eventually at several locations throughout the Middle East where he conducted counter terrorism and counter intelligence missions.

He moved to Washington, D.C., where he conducted protective service operations for visiting foreign dignitaries and assisted the United States Secret Service during presidential and vice presidential arrivals and departures.

His final assignment was as superintendent of AFOSI Operations at Detachment 204, Offutt Air Force Base. In that capacity he supervised AFOSI Operations in Nebraska, Iowa and Eastern South Dakota.

He retired in 2011 and currently works in the security and investigative arenas and was the third district campaign manager for the Theresa Thibodeau gubernatorial campaign.
