Vicar begins year of Internship at Tri-Saints Lutheran Parish

Tri-Saints Lutheran Parish composed of St. Paul, Hardy, St. Peter, Byron, and St Paul, Byron will be served by a vicar who is doing a one-year internship during 2024. Vicar Jack Roegner will be supervised by the Rev. Keith Brozek of Hebron.

Vicar Jack is married to the Rev. Beth Roegner, Pastor of Christ’s and Zion Lutheran in Davenport and Carleton. They have two adult children, William, and Jeffrey, who live in Eaton, Ohio, and Richmond, Indiana.

Vicar Jack was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, which at that time was considered the Soybean Capital of the World. ADM and AE Staley Co. were both headquartered in Decatur and processed 40 percent of all soybeans worldwide.

Vicar Jack graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur, earned an associate of arts degree in speech and theatre at Richland Community College, and a bachelor’s of science degree in recreation and parks administration at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

After graduation, Vicar Jack embarked on a career with the Boy Scouts of America as a commissioned executive. He served four BSA councils headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, Decatur, Illinois, South Bend, Indiana, and Indianapolis, Indiana. While serving Decatur, Illinois, he directed and developed the 640-acre Rhoades-France Scout Reservation.

Upon retiring from the BSA, he ultimately formed two computer businesses with five offices in Indiana and Illinois as well as serving as a deployment lead for companies such as NCR, Cummins Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, and Cintas Corporation.

Vicar Jack retired from his computer businesses in 2017 to attend Bethany Theological Seminary, in Richmond, Indiana. He also is an affiliate student at United Lutheran Seminary, Gettysburg Pennsylvania, to fulfill his Lutheran learning component. He graduated from Bethany with a Master of Divinity degree in May of 2020. In May of 2021, he also was awarded a master of theology degree from Bethany. When Vicar Jack completes a thesis on Small Church Vitality, he will be awarded a master of arts in Town & Country Church by the United Lutheran Seminary.

Vicar Jack looks forward to working with the people of Tri-Saints Lutheran Parish during this year of Internship and getting to know people in the area communities better.
