The Rock Hills Elementary School celebrated several events with family and friends this fall including Pancakes with People, a Halloween Parade, a food drive benefiting the Jewell County Helping Hands Ministry, Thankful Treats and a Family Fun Night.
“I couldn’t be any happier with the tremendous turnout of parents and friends in support of our students,” said Mrs. Cassi Bozarth, elementary school principal. “Scientific studies have shown that family engagement events help to build a positive environment in the school and help students to achieve; plus, it has been fun.”
Rock Hills Elementary School also has community partnerships in the education of students. During the year, the business partners come to the school and meet with their adopted classroom. In the second semester, the students will go to the place of business or organization to see what happens at their worksite.
“The community partners are helping students learn the connection between the subjects they are learning and how the knowledge and skills are used in the workplace. Students are eager to see how things really work,” added Bozarth.
Other local businesses have contributed items needed for events. Donors have included, State Exchange Bank, Citizen National Bank, and Farmway Credit Union.
The RHES Food Service Department baked 600 cookies for the Thankful Treats event.
“The cookies were a huge undertaking by our elementary head cook, Joni Meier. That is another example of the cooperation of our faculty and staff that helps the events be successful; they are awesome!” said Mrs. Bozarth.
“We really appreciate all of the support in every way that is extended to us. I am hoping that our families have a wonderful holiday break. We are looking forward to a second semester packed with more events and more learning opportunities,” said Bozarth.
