Murder suspect charged Tuesday

As this issue when to press Tuesday evening, Sebastion Dunbar, 30, was scheduled to be arraignment in Nuckolls County Court to answer charges related to the death of Molly Gruber, 35, on Dec. 17. After being found lying on the floor of her home, she was transported about one block to the Brodstone Healthcare hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The arraignment will be Dunbar’s first court appearance since his arrest. At the arraignment the accused defendant is formally read the criminal charges and possible penalties as their rights.

It was expected Dunbar would be bound over to district court for trial.

Dunbar, a Superior resident, was formerly charged on Tuesday with first degree murder, the use of deadly weapon and child abuse. All are felonies. If convicted, possible penalties include execution or life imprisonment.

Investigation into the incident continues and it is possible more charges may be filed.

Also on Wednesday’s court docket was the possible placement of the couple’s two-year-old daughter who was in the house at the time of the shooting. She has been temporarily cared for by a local family pending the formal court action.

A Go Fund Me account was established to provide funds for deceased’s body to be returned to her family in California.

It appears the fatal gunshot was fired through a closed door.

Dunbar is being held in the Clay County Jail.
