Wayne Bryan Herrmann, age 62, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at his home in El Dorado, Kansas. He was born on Jan. 6, 1961, in Santa Ana, Orange County, California, to Howard Richard Herrmann and Martha Angela (Carl) Herrmann.
He was a 1979 graduate of Mankato High School where he was a three sport letterman in football, basketball and golf. He also performed in the band. Shortly after high school, Wayne suffered a severe spinal cord injury while attending the Manhattan Area Technical College. Following several years of rehabilitation and with the support of his parents and the Mankato community, he resumed his education at the Salina Area Technical College. He completed his education earning a bachelor of business administration degree with a minor in accounting from Wichita State University.
Wayne was married to Lisa Denise Sousa Fickle on Sept. 2, 1988, in Wichita, Kansas, and together they raised their children Ryan and Bryan.
Wayne enjoyed many years of success in business as a general partner with Rain Link, Inc. of Wichita, selling commercial and residential sprinkler systems. For the past 10 years, he worked as the business manager for 1st Choice Trailers in Goddard, Kansas, where he was blessed through his relationship with owners Mark and Karol Schott. Work gave Wayne a sense of purpose and he loved the Schotts for their support and love.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Ryan Simmons (Joe) of Mulvane and Bryan Herrmann (Elizabeth) of El Dorado; and grandchildren Braydon Blevins and Piper Simmons. Wayne is also survived by a brother, Michael Herrmann of Columbia, South Carolina; and a sister, Pati Archer of Reno, Nevada; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Heritage Funeral Home of El Dorado is assisting Wayne's family with the arrangements. A memorial service at the funeral home is scheduled at 10 a.m. for Jan. 5, 2024.
